Rep. Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of messages on October 2, 2025, addressing recent events and sharing reflections tied to Yom Kippur.
In his first post at 15:54 UTC, Swalwell wrote, “They are laughing at us”.
Shortly after, at 15:59 UTC, he responded to reports of violence in the United Kingdom with the message: “Heartbroken by the horrific attack outside a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community. Antisemitic violence has no place anywhere. We must stand united against hate, always.”
Later that day at 16:29 UTC, Swalwell offered words of solidarity for Yom Kippur: “On this Yom Kippur, I join our Jewish neighbors and community in reflection, renewal, and atonement. May this Day of Atonement bring peace, healing, and a strengthened commitment to justice, compassion, and unity!”
Swalwell has represented California’s 14th District since succeeding Pete Stark in Congress in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, Swalwell holds degrees from the University of Maryland—earning a BA from College Park in 2003 and a JD from Baltimore in 2006.
