Rep. Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted several statements on July 22, 2025, addressing concerns over national safety and legislative oversight.

In one post from the morning of July 22, Swalwell commented on recent events involving air traffic and military oversight: “What do you get when a low-rated reality star is in charge of air traffic control AND a weekend “news” anchor is in charge of the military? Easy, a commercial jet nearly collides into a military plane.” (July 22, 2025)

Later that day, he highlighted cybersecurity efforts at a major federal laboratory: “Lawrence Livermore National Lab is leading the charge to protect America’s critical infrastructure from cyber threats—and Congress must give CISA the tools and staff it needs to keep up.” (July 22, 2025)

Swalwell also announced new legislation regarding federal law enforcement: “No president should be able to tell Marshals when to enforce the law and when to look away. That’s why I introduced the MARSHALS Act — to move the Marshals Service to the judiciary, where it belongs.” (July 22, 2025)

Eric Swalwell was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. He holds degrees from both University of Maryland, College Park (BA) and University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).
