Rep. Eric Swalwell, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of messages on his social media account addressing community concerns and observances.
On February 17, 2026, Swalwell paid tribute to a civil rights leader, stating, “Today we honor the life and legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson. May we carry his work forward.”
The following day, on February 18, 2026, he acknowledged the beginning of Ramadan for his constituents and others worldwide: “Ramadan Mubarak to all observing in #CA14 and around the world. May this holy month bring peace, reflection, and renewed strength to the Muslim community.”
On February 20, 2026, Swalwell addressed local concerns about the future use of FCI Dublin after its closure due to reported abuse: “FCI Dublin was closed after horrific abuse. It should not be reopened as an ICE detention facility. I stand with our community in saying no to bringing ICE into Dublin. We deserve transparency, accountability, and public safety — not a repeat of past harms.”
Eric Swalwell has served as the representative for California’s 14th District since replacing Pete Stark in 2013. He was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. Swalwell holds a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park (2003) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2006).
