Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, addressed several political issues in a series of posts on August 5, 2025.
In his first post, Swalwell challenged another official regarding public engagement and redistricting: “How about instead of whining like a beta boy, you hold an in-person town hall with your constituents? Ask them what they think about CA redistricting in response to Texas. Do I have to come up there and do this for you AGAIN?” (August 5, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on the economic impact of tariffs: “Tariffs are projected to cost U.S. households an average of $2,400 in 2025. Americans, not foreign countries, are paying the prices of Trump’s tariff war. Nobody asked for this.” (August 5, 2025).
In a subsequent post on the same day, Swalwell called for accountability among lawmakers who supported Medicaid cuts: “We must hold every Republican who voted to cut Medicaid for millions of hard working Americans accountable. Know their names.” (August 5, 2025).
Eric Swalwell has represented California’s 14th district since replacing Pete Stark in Congress in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore at age 42, Swalwell holds both a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
