Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted several comments on social media addressing recent political developments and engaging with his constituents.

On August 11, 2025, Swalwell criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions in Washington D.C., writing: “Trump’s federal takeover of D.C. isn’t about safety, it’s about distracting Americans from, high prices, a bad jobs report, a falling economy, and the Epstein files.”

Later that same day, Swalwell made another post referencing local law enforcement in the nation’s capital: “Hello, DC Police? I’d like to report a creep on a roof.” The context for this remark was not immediately clear from the post.

On August 12, 2025, Swalwell announced an event for his constituents: “I’m hosting a town hall meeting in Hayward TODAY to update you on what’s happening in D.C. and share my priorities for the year ahead. And as always, I want to hear from YOU. Join me virtually on Facebook Live at 6:30 PM PT by visiting this link: https://t.co/BCKKR0cftT See you”

Swalwell has represented California’s 14th District since replacing Pete Stark in 2013. He was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. He holds both a BA and JD from the University of Maryland.
