Rep. Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of messages on his Twitter account on July 30, 2025, addressing topics ranging from political commentary to healthcare policy and a public challenge directed at a television host.

In one post at 12:48 UTC, Swalwell commented on former President Donald Trump’s continued presence in public discourse, stating “Trumpstein is not going away”.

An hour later, at 13:51 UTC, Swalwell issued a challenge to Fox News host Greg Gutfeld after being criticized for his bench press abilities. He wrote, “Here’s a deal for @Gutfeldfox. (Never heard of him til he spent 8 mins criticizing what I bench press) *The deal: if tough guy benches more than me for 10 reps I’ll leave Congress. If not, he leaves Fox News. I’ll give Greg 48 hrs to accept, then I’m calling him GUTLESSfeld “.

Later that day at 14:10 UTC, Swalwell marked the anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid with a statement highlighting their impact in his district and contrasting Democratic and Republican approaches to healthcare policy. He said, “For 60 years, Medicare and Medicaid have helped millions of seniors, kids, and working families get the care they need. In CA-14 alone, over 28,000 rely on both programs. While Republicans try to slash care & raise costs, Democrats are defending these hard-won promises and”.

Eric Swalwell has represented California’s 14th District in Congress since replacing Pete Stark in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, Swalwell earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park in 2003 and received his law degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006.
