Representative Eric Swalwell, a member of Congress for California’s 14th district, has recently taken to social media to comment on several national issues, including the legal status of Ukrainian refugees and concerns about U.S. air travel.

On July 31, 2025, Swalwell addressed the ongoing situation of Ukrainians displaced by Russia’s invasion: “For over 3 years, Ukrainians fleeing Putin’s brutal invasion have built new lives and strengthened communities across the U.S. Now their legal status is at risk. I joined over 30 of my colleagues to demand the Trump Administration protect their status in the U.S. until they can”. This post underscores congressional efforts urging the current administration to safeguard temporary protections for Ukrainian nationals residing in the United States.

The following day, on August 1, 2025, Swalwell voiced frustration about air travel under President Trump’s administration: “What the hell is happening in our skies? Since Trump took office, air travel has been a disaster.” His comments reflect ongoing public debate regarding recent challenges in commercial aviation.

Later that same day, Swalwell posted a brief statement: “Put him in the Cabinet!”, though he did not specify whom he was referencing or provide further context.

Eric Swalwell has served as U.S. Representative for California’s 14th district since 2013 after succeeding Pete Stark. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, Swalwell earned his undergraduate degree from University of Maryland, College Park and his law degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore.
