Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, recently expressed his views on various political matters through a series of tweets. Known for his legal background and education from the University of Maryland, Swalwell shared his concerns regarding actions taken by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and addressed issues surrounding Senator Alex Padilla.
On June 12, 2025, Swalwell called for the resignation of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, citing several controversial actions attributed to her leadership. He stated, “DHS Secretary Kristi Noem must resign. She has deported a four year old with cancer, detained a U.S. marshal, and arrested two members of Congress. She’s lost the confidence of the American people. ICE must stop terrorizing our communities.”
Later that day, Swalwell reiterated his stance in a succinct follow-up tweet at 21:31 UTC with “Kristi Noem must RESIGN”, emphasizing his demand for her resignation.
In another post made at 21:55 UTC on the same day, Swalwell addressed an incident involving Senator Alex Padilla by urging followers to read his statement on the matter. He tweeted “Read my statement on the assault of Senator Alex Padilla.” This indicates ongoing concerns about political and physical safety within government ranks.
Eric Swalwell has been an active voice in Congress since succeeding Pete Stark in 2013 and continues to engage with national issues from his residence in Livermore.
