Representative Eric Swalwell, who has served California’s 14th District in the U.S. Congress since 2013, recently shared several statements on social media addressing both local achievements and national political issues. Swalwell, born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, holds degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park (BA) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).

On July 14, 2025, Swalwell recognized a local accomplishment by congratulating Ananya Akkaraju for her global educational work: “From #DublinHigh to global impact! Congratulations to Ananya Akkaraju for securing a grant allowing her to expand her work to supporting girls’ education worldwide!”

Later that day, he commented on economic policy and inflation predictions under former President Trump. In his post dated July 14, 2025, Swalwell wrote: “Trump thinks inflation is going to go down. But tomorrow he’s going to be proven wrong (again). I expect the year-over-year CPI inflation to rise (& keep rising) as the Trump Tariff Tax kicks in.

Trump promised he’d lower prices ‘on Day 1.’ It’s Day 176. And he’s 0 for 176.”

In another message posted on July 14, 2025, Swalwell discussed reactions within his district regarding ongoing news about Jeffrey Epstein and contrasted them with broader Democratic concerns: “The crazy thing about the Epstein situation? Dems are screaming about inflation & losing our rights. But it’s Republicans in my district going nuts over Epstein. Never seen anything like it. It’s like they’ve been defending Trump’s Bullshit for so long, they just snapped.”

Eric Swalwell succeeded Pete Stark in Congress and continues to represent California’s East Bay area.
