Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, recently took to social media to express his concerns over a bill that could impact healthcare and other assistance programs. In a series of tweets posted on July 2, 2025, Swalwell questioned the voting decisions of several fellow representatives.
In a tweet from July 2, 2025, Swalwell questioned Rep. MMM’s decision to support the bill, highlighting that “24,696 people would lose access to their healthcare,” along with “28,793 households” potentially losing food assistance and “1,320 energy jobs” at risk. He also mentioned the possible loss of at least one hospital.
Later on July 2, Swalwell directed another query toward Rep. Tom Barrett, asking why he voted for the bill that could result in “24,745 people” losing healthcare access and “30,044 households” being affected by food assistance cuts. The potential loss of “4,352 energy jobs” was also noted.
Continuing his critique on the same day, Swalwell addressed Rep. Brian Fitz, questioning his vote in favor of legislation that might lead to “21,310 people” losing healthcare coverage and affect “24,638 households'” access to food assistance.
Eric Swalwell has served in Congress since replacing Pete Stark in 2013 and holds degrees from both the University of Maryland College Park (BA) and Baltimore (JD). At age 42, he continues to advocate for issues affecting his constituents while residing in Livermore.
