Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th District since 2013, has publicly commented on recent political and economic issues. Serving California’s constituents since replacing Pete Stark in 2013, Swalwell, born in Sac City, Iowa, has been active in responding to various national concerns on social media.

On April 17, 2025, Swalwell raised concerns via Twitter, highlighting the impact of a federal decision: “Trump froze $2.2 billion in Harvard’s funding because they wouldn’t bow to his threats. That’s funding for cancer research, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, and more that the President is holding hostage. This is textbook extortion – period. Harvard isn’t caving, and neither will we.”

In another tweet dated April 19, 2025, Swalwell lamented the decline in international tourism to the United States and its economic ripple effects, stating: “Tourism to the United States is an EXPORT. And since Trump it’s in a freefall. Hospitality and restaurant workers are getting destroyed by this TRUMP SLUMP.”

Swalwell also participated in the Easter celebrations, sharing a brief and traditional message on April 20, 2025: “He is Risen!” This message aligns with the widespread observance of Easter among numerous communities.

Eric Swalwell resides in Livermore, holds degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and has represented California in Congress for over a decade.
