Rep. Eric Swalwell, who has represented California’s 14th district in the U.S. Congress since 2013, recently posted a series of comments on his official social media account addressing national politics and issues related to immigration and the justice system.
On August 14, 2025, Swalwell wrote: “Most unpopular president in my lifetime https://t.co/9ZgmZILaQz”.
Later that day, he addressed concerns about deportation practices in the United States. In a post dated August 14, 2025, he stated: “This is what happens when deportation, not due process, is the only goal. When speed matters more than justice, American citizens are deported and lives are endangered.

On August 15, 2025, Swalwell raised questions about the frequency of rejected grand jury indictments across the country. He posted: “George — is there a way to seek how many grand jury indictments across the country have been rejected? That would be an interesting data set. https://t.co/d7XASYbWvT”.
Swalwell has served as a member of Congress for over a decade after succeeding Pete Stark in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, Swalwell earned his BA from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003 and his JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006.
