Representative Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of critical statements on his official X account on October 15, 2025, addressing Republican policies and actions in Washington.
In a post published at 03:20 UTC, Swalwell commented on Republican intentions regarding health care, stating, “This was ALWAYS the plan. Republicans want to take your health care insurance and penalize you for having a preexisting condition. At least Byron Donalds was willing to say it out loud.”
Later that morning, at 09:30 UTC, Swalwell addressed government funding issues, writing, “Republicans run ALL of Washington. Yet, they won’t pay the troops and now they won’t pay you or your family members’ Social Security increase. #TrumpShutUsDown”
At 09:51 UTC, Swalwell criticized Senator JD Vance for his response to controversial supporters, stating, “JD Vance had a chance to condemn his ‘I Love Hitler’ supporters. Instead, yesterday, he sided with them. But yes, we should stop calling them Fascists!”
Swalwell, who was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore, has a background in law, having earned a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003 and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006. He succeeded Pete Stark as the representative for California’s 14th district and has maintained his seat since 2013.
