Rep. Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of tweets on January 8, 2026, addressing recent violence and political accountability involving former President Donald Trump and the GOP.
In his first post at 15:13 UTC, Swalwell wrote: “Every mom’s car in America. Trump’s thugs shot a mom in the face 3x and orphaned her 6-year-old.”
Later that day at 15:43 UTC, he continued: “Trump is willing to hold Iran accountable for something he roots for with his own thugs.”
At 17:15 UTC, Swalwell added: “Renee Good wasn’t a threat—she was a mom with stuffed animals in her glove box. If the GOP won’t act, we will.”
Eric Swalwell has been an active member of Congress since defeating Pete Stark in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, Swalwell holds degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park (BA) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).
