Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, posted a series of tweets on August 15, 2025, criticizing recent political actions and figures.
On August 15, 2025, Swalwell wrote: “Trump nominates a Nazi fan to be in charge of economic statistics.”
Later that day, he commented on Rep. Kevin Kiley’s engagement with constituents: “‘No Show Kiley’ spends a lot of time whining on X, but will NEVER face his constituents at a town hall? I’ve held more town halls in HIS district than he has. Kevin, why don’t you ask your constituents what they think about Texas’s rig-districting? “ This tweet references concerns over constituent engagement and mentions alleged issues with redistricting in Texas.
In another post the same day, Swalwell criticized efforts to alter public perceptions of the economy: “Suppressing facts and conjuring inaccurate statistics won’t hide that the country is in a serious Trump Slump.”
Eric Swalwell has represented California’s 14th District since replacing Pete Stark in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently residing in Livermore, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003 and his JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006.
