Rep. Eric Swalwell, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district, has been active on social media discussing political events and issues. His recent tweets reflect his perspectives on the current political climate and activities in Washington D.C.
On July 2, 2025, Swalwell addressed reporters covering the Republican holdouts with a suggestion for their headlines: “Dear Hill reporters, on the ‘GOP holdouts’…I’ve been doing this for 13 years. Let me save you time and I’ll write your Big Bullshit Bill headline: Cult Members Support Cult Leader Over Constituents There you go. Go see your families. There’s no courage here.” This tweet reflects his critical view of certain Republican members’ allegiance to party leadership over constituents.
Later that day, Swalwell queried about a celebrity visit to the White House with a simple post asking: “Anyone tracking what time Diddy goes to White House?” The tweet suggests an interest in high-profile visits to the nation’s capital.
In another tweet from July 2, Swalwell commented on legislative delays by pointing out the reasons behind them: “#BREAKING from House Floor: we aren’t delayed because moderates whose constituents will be completely screwed are holding out. We are delayed because the most extreme members who want to hurt MORE people are holding out.” This message underscores his frustration with certain congressional factions he perceives as obstructive.
Eric Swalwell has represented California’s 14th District since replacing Pete Stark in 2013. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980, he now resides in Livermore. He holds a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
