Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, has recently shared several thoughts on social media. Swalwell, who succeeded Pete Stark in his congressional role, often uses his platform to address political issues and controversies.

On June 8, 2025, Swalwell posed a rhetorical question regarding an incident involving the Capitol Police and former President Donald Trump. He tweeted: “What if you hit a Capitol Police cop on behalf of your boy Trump?” The post alludes to ongoing discussions about accountability and actions taken by individuals in support of political figures.

Shortly after, he expressed amusement at a fact-checking incident involving Grok. In his tweet, he stated: “LOL love it when Grok fact-checks these dumb motherfuckers.” This reflects Swalwell’s engagement with fact-checking efforts related to misinformation or misleading statements.

Later that day, Swalwell addressed a conversation with Secretary Noem concerning the deportation of Kilmar Garcia. He recounted asking Noem whether Trump had altered Garcia’s photo to justify deportation. According to Swalwell’s tweet: “I asked @Sec_Noem if Trump doctored Kilmar Garcia’s photo to justify deportation. She refused to look at the photo.” He further noted her response accusing him of supporting MS-13 while emphasizing the importance of due process for all individuals.

Eric Swalwell was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. He holds a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park (2003) and earned his JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2006).
