Representative Eric Swalwell, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th District since 2013, posted a series of statements on July 11, 2025, addressing the issue of unreleased documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and recent actions regarding FEMA. Swalwell, a Democrat who succeeded Pete Stark in Congress and resides in Livermore, California, used his social media platform to question the motivations behind certain decisions by former President Donald Trump and House Republicans.

In a post dated July 11, 2025 at 13:44 UTC, Swalwell questioned why House Republicans have not released files related to Jeffrey Epstein despite having subpoena power. He wrote: “We know WHY Trump won’t release the Epstein Files. Elon told us. BUT why won’t House Republicans, who have the POWER of subpoena release the files? It’s a COVER-UP CAUCUS.”

Later that day at 16:10 UTC, Swalwell reiterated his inquiry regarding House Republicans’ actions concerning the Epstein files with another statement: “Why won’t House Republicans unearth the Epstein files that Trump buried?”

At 17:09 UTC on July 11, Swalwell shifted focus to recent developments involving FEMA. He credited organized public advocacy for prompting a reversal from former President Trump on an unspecified policy matter relating to FEMA. His statement read: “We did this! We have organized and spoken out about why we ALL need FEMA. This is our victory. Trump backed down. Stay LOUD!”

Eric Swalwell was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and is currently 42 years old. He holds degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park (BA) and University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).
