Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district since 2013, has been vocal on social media regarding legislative matters. His recent tweets address issues concerning the Freedom Caucus and specific bills that could impact healthcare and food assistance for many Americans.

On July 2, 2025, Swalwell challenged the Freedom Caucus with a tweet stating “Prove me wrong @freedomcaucus”.

Later that day, he questioned Representative Young Kim’s support for a bill by tweeting at 20:00:55 UTC: “Why would @RepYoungKim (CA-40) vote for this bill? 31,315 people would lose access to their healthcare. 14,993 households could lose access to their food assistance.”

Shortly after, at 20:09:09 UTC, Swalwell directed similar concerns towards Representative Nick Begich regarding the same bill. He tweeted: “Why would @RepNickBegich (AK-AL) vote for this bill? 37,000 people would lose access to their healthcare. 27,000 households could lose access to their food assistance. 578 energy jobs could be lost.”

Eric Swalwell was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in 2003 and later earned his JD from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore in 2006.
