Rep. Eric Swalwell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district, is known for his active engagement on social media. In a series of tweets posted in early July 2025, Swalwell addressed concerns related to government transparency and accountability.

On July 6, 2025, Rep. Swalwell questioned the U.S. Treasury Department regarding tax payment implications for citizens who trust presidential statements. He asked “Does @USTreasury want to clarify this? Otherwise, what stops honest Americans who believe their president’s words from not paying these taxes?”

The following day, on July 7, 2025, Swalwell raised questions about former President Donald Trump and his alleged connection to Jeffrey Epstein’s files. He tweeted “Why is Trump hiding the Epstein Files from you? Any of you clowns who went to the White House earlier this year to play a part in Trump’s circus want to wager a guess?”

Later that same day, he commented on Trump’s tendency towards litigation and suggested that Trump’s lack of legal action concerning allegations of his involvement in Epstein’s files was telling. He stated “No one who has walked Earth is more litigious than Donald Trump. If Trump is NOT in the files he would have already sued @elonmusk for saying he IS in the files. The absence of Trump’s legal actions speaks VOLUMES.”

Eric Swalwell has been serving in Congress since replacing Pete Stark in 2013 and continues to reside in Livermore after being born in Sac City, Iowa.
