Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, shared personal reflections about his family’s sports fandom on social media over the weekend.
On January 18, 2026, Swalwell posted about watching football with his child: “I’ve created a monster. My 8-year-old is a more nervous wreck watching the Niners than I am. So I have to be the CALM one?”
Later that day, he recounted an early morning conversation with his son: “The mouths of babes. My 8-year-old woke me up to tell me ‘Daddy, AT LEAST the @warriors won last night.’ So we now move on from football to the NBA season and the inevitable comeback story the Dubs are going to write.”
In a third post on January 18, Swalwell commented briefly: “He’s right https://t.co/CZg82lPGCU”
Swalwell, who was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore, has represented California’s 14th district since succeeding Pete Stark in Congress in 2013. He is an alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park (BA) and earned his JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
