In a series of tweets, U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell, representing California’s 14th district since 2013, shared his perspectives on recent political events. Swalwell, born in Iowa and currently residing in Livermore, California, voiced his concerns regarding actions by political figures and the effects of government decisions on social services. Swalwell’s comments were made on social media in late March 2025.

On March 27, Swalwell expressed amazement at the actions of a group associated with former President Trump, criticizing them for allegedly sharing sensitive attack plans inappropriately. “As a seven-term member of Congress, not much surprises me. But sharing attack plans in a group chat with a journalist? That must be the dumbest move by Team Trump so far, and it’s only March,” he stated, further promoting his opinion piece on the incident.

The next day, March 28, Swalwell questioned the presence of Senator J.D. Vance in Greenland. Emphasizing the lack of necessity and local interest in this presence, Swalwell criticized Vance in a tweet: “What the hell is JD Vance doing in Greenland? They don’t want him there. We don’t need him there.” He alluded to alternative issues closer to home, suggesting a focus on the economic impacts of tariffs.

Further expressing concern about domestic issues, Swalwell addressed the situation at the Social Security Administration on the same day. He highlighted the impact of staffing reductions, noting the adverse effects on service accessibility for seniors. “Reckless cuts and mass firings at the Social Security Administration are leaving millions of seniors waiting hours just to speak to someone while the SSA website crashes under the strain. Our seniors deserve better,” he asserted.
