Rep. Eric Swalwell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district since 2013, has recently shared his thoughts on pressing social issues through a series of tweets. His posts cover topics ranging from gun violence awareness to LGBTQ+ rights and anti-Semitic violence.
On June 1, 2025, Swalwell addressed the issue of gun violence in America by highlighting that “Every day, more than 200 people are shot in America. Thoughts and prayers aren’t enough.” He emphasized the importance of Gun Violence Awareness Month as a time to honor those lost and renew efforts for change, advocating for safer environments for children.
Later that day, he marked Pride Month with a message celebrating the LGBTQ+ community’s courage and resilience: “ This Pride Month, we celebrate the courage, love, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.” Swalwell reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for equality and justice across California’s 14th district and beyond.
In another tweet posted on June 1, 2025, Swalwell expressed horror at an anti-Semitic attack in Boulder: “I am horrified by the violent anti-Semitic attack on Jewish children in Boulder.” He described how Jewish families peacefully marching were targeted with firebombs and underscored the need for safety in public spaces for all communities.
Eric Swalwell was born in Sac City, Iowa in 1980 and currently resides in Livermore. He graduated from the University of Maryland with both a BA (2003) and JD (2006).
