Rep. Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 14th district, has taken to social media to express his concerns over policies attributed to former President Donald Trump. In a series of tweets, Swalwell outlines the potential impacts of these policies on safety and economic conditions.

On February 2, 2025, Swalwell tweeted about the implications of Trump's tariffs and his decision to dismiss law enforcement officers tasked with counter-terrorism efforts. He stated: "There we have it. With Trump’s tariffs and his mass firing of cops who hunt terrorists, you will pay more and be less safe."

Later that day, he expanded on his critique by discussing various actions attributed to Trump, including data theft and economic consequences such as increased grocery costs. Swalwell warned: "As Trump steals our data, fires cops, releases his violent inmates onto our streets, and raises all of our grocery costs…remember this: It’s a hell of a lot easier and cheaper to defend freedom than to get it back once it’s taken. Get ready. He’s coming for your freedom."

The following day on February 3rd, Swalwell praised fellow politician Brian Schatz for demonstrating effective political resistance strategies in the Senate: "This. This is how you fight. From now on, this is how we need our senate colleagues to fight. Right on @brianschatz."
