Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 14th district, has shared his perspectives on several recent issues through a series of tweets. Swalwell, who replaced Pete Stark in Congress in 2013 and is an alumnus of the University of Maryland, uses social media to express his views on political matters and current events.

On December 2, 2024, Swalwell addressed the topic of pardons related to Hunter Biden by stating, "If you defended the 34x felon, who committed sexual assault, stole national security documents, and tried running a coup on his country…you can sit out the Hunter Biden pardon discussion." This comment highlights his stance on accountability and justice concerning national figures.

Later that day, Swalwell praised Jerry Nadler's leadership as Judiciary Chair via another tweet. He expressed gratitude for Nadler's service while advocating for new leadership within the committee: "Jerry Nadler is the best Judiciary Chair of my lifetime. I am forever grateful for his service. Now, we must pass the torch to a new generation of leaders. @RepRaskin is the best person to next lead the Judiciary committee. I am fully behind him."

On December 5, 2024, following an earthquake in Northern California, Swalwell conveyed relief over the cancellation of a tsunami warning through social media. He acknowledged efforts by emergency services and urged caution: "I’m relieved that the tsunami warning was canceled following the earthquake in Northern California. @Cal_OES is monitoring and providing updates for next steps. I encourage everyone to remain safe and stay alert. My thoughts are with those who’ve experienced damage or injury."
