Rep. Eric Swalwell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 14th district, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various issues. Swalwell, who replaced Pete Stark in 2013, expressed his views on immigration policies and public safety, recounted an incident involving a potential in-flight collision at an airport, and commented on societal reactions to tragedies.

On January 30, 2025, Rep. Swalwell aligned himself with another politician's stance on immigration and public safety. He stated: "I’m with Ritchie. Here’s where we need to be: Dems want order at border, violent criminals GONE, and immediate legal immigration pathways to help workforce crisis in agriculture, hospitality, and restaurants. Do not defend deported gang leaders!"

Later that day, he reported a personal experience upon arriving at Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport (DCA). He tweeted about narrowly avoiding an in-flight collision: "I landed at DCA this evening at 8:42pm, IAH—DCA minutes before an in-flight collision over the airport. My thoughts are with all involved and their families. Hoping first responders find survivors."

In a subsequent tweet posted on January 30th as well, Rep. Swalwell criticized what he perceived as formulaic responses during tragic events by stating: "Noun. Verb. DEI. Even in a tragedy, that’s the formula. We are BETTER than this." This statement reflects his dissatisfaction with standard reactions to such situations.
