Rep. Eric Swalwell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 14th district, recently shared his perspectives on social media regarding economic and regional educational initiatives. Swalwell, born in Sac City, Iowa, and a resident of Livermore, used Twitter to address concerns about financial burdens placed on families and express pride in local student achievements.
On April 3, 2025, Rep. Swalwell criticized recent tariff policies. He commented: "Nothing says 'liberation' like higher prices on groceries, clothes, and cars. These tariffs are a tax hike on hard-working families — plain and simple."
Later that day, he further articulated his concerns about economic policies, suggesting they could harm families and businesses: "Trump’s idea of liberation is families paying more and businesses suffering. This isn’t strength — it’s sabotage."
In a separate tweet on the same day, Swalwell expressed pride in students from Foothill High and Tennyson High. He stated: "Proud of our #CA14 students from Foothill High and Tennyson High heading to D.C. for the We the People national finals! These young leaders are already showing what democracy in action looks like. Good luck!"
