On February 12, 2025, Rep. Swalwell commented on former President Donald Trump's approval rating abroad by stating "100% *Trump’s approval rating **In Russia".
Later that day, Swalwell addressed issues of censorship involving Trump and his critics. He tweeted "The only censorship I see is Donald Trump censoring his critics and republicans censoring themselves from criticizing Trump."
On February 13, 2025, Swalwell critiqued adherence to the Hatch Act with a tweet that read "We are ten exits past the Hatch Act."
