Eric Swalwell, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for California's 14th District, expressed strong opinions on various national issues through recent tweets. A native of Iowa, Swalwell has been a member of Congress since 2013, having succeeded Pete Stark. Educated at the University of Maryland, Swalwell holds both a BA and a JD from the institution.

On April 3, 2025, Swalwell addressed cybersecurity challenges faced by State and Local authorities, stating that "State and Local authorities cannot go toe-to-toe with Russia or China when it comes to cybersecurity. That's why I am fighting to reauthorize the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program to give them the resources and backup they need from the federal government to protect".

Further, on the same day, Swalwell criticized the economic impacts of specific trade policies, noting that "Trump’s tariffs are a slap in the face to hardworking Americans, jacking up prices, straining small businesses, and risking jobs. This isn’t America first; it’s families last."

Continuing with his critique, on April 4, 2025, Swalwell commented on economic policies, stating: "Your 401k just became a 201k. And the fucking moron who did that to you is golfing the rest of the weekend in Miami. Let that sink in."
