Eric Swalwell, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 14th district, has recently made several statements on social media regarding national security concerns and a tragic event abroad. Swalwell, who took office in 2013, continues to use his platform to comment on pertinent issues affecting both his district and the broader national and international communities.
On April 22, 2025, Swalwell authored a tweet addressing Pete Hegseth, suggesting possible misconduct by asking rhetorically who he didn’t leak classified information to. The exact words read, "Pete Hegseth should tell us who he DIDN’T leak classified information to."
Later the same day, Swalwell revisited the topic of Pete Hegseth, questioning the logic of Hegseth's defense regarding the alleged leaks. Swalwell noted, "Pete Hegseth’s defense to LEAKING America’s secrets is that HIS OWN people are leaking about his communications. Ok, sure. But he didn’t say they’re lying."
The following day, on April 23, 2025, Swalwell expressed his condemnation of a recent terrorist attack targeting tourists in India. He conveyed his condolences and extended support to those affected, mentioning the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi as a resource for U.S. citizens needing assistance. "I strongly condemn the recent terrorist attack against tourists in India. My prayers are with the families of the victims and all those affected. If any U.S. citizen in my district or elsewhere are impacted, please contact the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. America stands in" is how he phrased his response.
Eric Swalwell, 42, hails from Sac City, Iowa, and currently resides in Livermore. Graduating from the University of Maryland with a BA in 2003 and a JD in 2006, he continues to serve his community in the legislative branch of government.
